As a result, many of the things that are accepted as "common knowledge" are really age-old misrepresentations calculated to cast as poor as possible picture of the Catholic Church. Rodney Stark issues a corrective to how the Crusades are commonly portrayed. He provides context to help the reader better understand what the Crusades really were, what was good about them, and why things went wrong. The book is easy to read and informative. It's definitely belongs on everyone's apologetics bookshelf.
